This Order prohibits trawlnet fishing for shrimp by motor-powered traction into coastal areas. It consists of 3 articles establishing closed seasons for the exploitation of crustacean species (Penaeus subtilis, P. brasiliensis, P. schmitti and Xiphopenaeus kroyeri). For coastals areas between Maranhao and Piauí the closed season begins on 1 until 30 of November; between Ceará and Piauí from 1 December to 31 January. It also lays down geographical coordinates of such prohibition. Fishermen must inform competent authority on all relevant necessary information. It prescribes sanctions to be paid by offenders in compliance with Decree-Law No. 221 of 28 February 1967 and Act No. 7.679 of 23 November 1988.
