Resolution CAISAN No. 1 approving the Regulation of the Interministerial Chamber for Food and Nutricional Security (CAISAN).

This Resolution approves the Regulation of the Interministerial Chamber for Food and Nutricional Security (CAISAN), created by Decree No. 6.273 of 23 November 2007. This Regulation, consisting of 24 articles divided into four Chapters, aims at promoting the articulation and integration of the organs and entities of the federal public administration related to food and nutritional security. Based on the guidelines issued by the National Council for Food and Nutrition Security (CONSEA), CAISAN is responsible for: elaborate, a) The National Policy on Food and Nutrition Security (PNSAN), indicating its guidelines and instruments for its execution; and b) the National Plan for Food and Nutrition Security (PLANSAN), indicating targets, sources of resources and instruments for monitoring and evaluating their execution. To coordinate the implementation of PNSAN and PLANSAN, through: a) permanent dialogue between the CONSEA and the executive bodies; and b) monitoring the proposals of the multi-annual plan, the budget guidelines law and the annual budget; to monitor and evaluate, in an integrated manner, the allocation and application of resources in actions and programmes of interest to food and nutrition security in the multiannual plan and annual budgets; monitor and evaluate the results and impacts of PNSAN and PLANSAN; articulate and stimulate the integration of the policies and plans of its state and Federal District counterparts; ensure the follow-up of the analysis of the CONSEA recommendations by the governing bodies, presenting periodic reports; define, after consulting the CONSEA, the criteria and procedures for participation in SISAN; and prepare and approve related legislation.
