Resolution CNRH No. 107 establishing guidelines and criteria to be adopted for the planning, implementation and operation of the National Network for Qualitative and Quantitative Integrated Watershed Management of Groundwater.

This Resolution establishes guidelines and criteria for the planning, implementation and operation of the National Qualitative and Quantitative Integrated Watershed Monitoring Network. This Network shall be planned and coordinated by the ANA National Water Agency and implemented, operated and maintained by the Mineral Resources Research Company-CPRM, both institutions in coordination with bodies and entities for water resources management of the states and the Federal District. The qualitative and quantitative information will be incorporated into the National System of Information for Water Resources - SNIRH. The choice of monitoring points should consider the following aspects: I - the use and occupation of the soil; II - the demand for groundwater: a) quantity of wells; b) volume of exploitation; c) density and population growth; d) use of water for public supply; e) type of economic activity; and f) conflict areas; III - geological characterization; IV - hydro-geological characterization: a) hydraulic; b) geometry; c) type of aquifer; d) refilling/discharging areas; and e) interaction of surface and groundwater; V - hydro-geochemistry: a) the natural characteristics of groundwater; and b) groundwater altered by anthropogenic actions; VI - natural vulnerability of aquifers, risk of pollution of groundwater and contaminated areas; VII - climate: a) climatic types; b) area subject to critical hydrometeorological events; VIII - aquifers of strategic importance; and IX - the proximity and possibility of integration with hydrometeorological monitoring stations. The National Underground Waters Monitoring Network shall specify, for each aquifer specific information.
