Abstract
This Act makes provision for the establishment of The Bahamas Maritime Authority as a body corporate, defines its functions, powers and internal organization and defines the relationship between the Authority, the Government and other institutions.
The Authority shall appoint a Director of Maritime Affairs, to whom reference is made in the Merchant Shipping Act and the Merchant Shipping (Oil Pollution) Act. The Authority shall regulate the control and administration of matters regarding navigation but also advise Government on any matter relating to marine pollution prevention.
