Abstract
These Regulations lay down requirements to be engaged in flats fishing. A person aged twelve years or older wishing to engage in flats fishing shall apply for a personal angler license in Form 1 as set out in the First Schedule and pay the prescribed fee as set out in the Third Schedule. Regulation 5 stipulates that no individual may operate as a flats fishing guide without possessing a flats fishing guide licence issued by the Minister in accordance with Form 2 or Form 3, as detailed in the Second Schedule. Regulation 6 provides for the establishment of a Conservation Fund for the conservation and management of the flats and its fisheries resources. Regulation 8 prohibits to engage in commercial fishing in the flats. Regulation 9 sets out restrictions on fishing gears in respect of bone-fish, permit, snook, cobia or tarpon for the protection of flats fish stocks. Regulations 10 and 11 lay down general offences and penalties and fixed penalty offences and infringement notices.
