Abstract
The strategic goal of this policy is to pursue excellence in guarding the heritage of the Bahamas. The Government of The Bahamas aims at securing the maritime boundaries and preventing poaching of marine resources, the influx of illegal immigrants, and entry or transit of illegal drugs and other contraband, including firearms. To this end, the Government commits to provide equipment and training to the Royal Bahamas Defence Force to fully meet its mandate to protect the national borders. The functions of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force include performing assistance and relief tasks in times of disasters and conducting operations to deter illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing during key periods.
