Wildlife Conservation and Trade Act, 2004 (Cap. 250A).

This Act makes provision for the designation by the Minister of a Management Authority and a Scientific Authority in accordance with the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), defines functions of the Authority and prescribes rules and offences for purposes of regulation of trade in endangered species in accordance with the Convention. The Act also provides for the creation of a National Advisory Committee and a special fund for the conservation of wildlife. The Act requires persons wishing to possess or trade in specimens of any species included in the Schedules to this Act or to produce captive bred animals and artificially propagated plants of any species included in the Schedules in this Act to register with the Authority and to keep records on their dealings.
