Abstract
These Rules and Regulations transfer the management of the Centenary Farmers Market (CFM) located in Thimphu by Thimphu City Corporation to the Ministry of Agriculture in order to facilitate sale of farm produce and to ensure high standards of hygiene and sanitation.
The Bhutan Agriculture and Food Regulatory Authority (BAFRA) will be designated as the lead agency for managing the market. A CFM Management Committee shall also be established for the purpose of the management of the CFM.
BAFRA Inspectors and CFM Management staff will have full authority to exercise their power of enforcement of these Rules and Regulations, to impose fines, to suspend vendors and to suspend or close the market in case of emergency.
The Rules and Regulations provide for: products eligible for sale; allocation of market stalls; stall rental fees; display of produce; conditions for the use of stalls; responsibilities of vendors and customers; offences and penalties; etc.
