Abstract
This Act makes provision for the protection of consumers and for the safety of consumer goods and services.
The Act establishes a Consumer Board and an Office of Consumer protection, and defines their composition and functions.
It, among other things: sets out consumers’ rights and responsibilities; prohibits false and misleading representation; provides for the right of consumers to redress against suppliers or manufacturers; and provides for administrative penalties.

An Act to provide for the protection of economic interest and safety of consumers and ensure better consumer products and services, to facilitate quicker redressal mechanisms, to avoid economic harm and adverse consequences in the course of acquiring and using goods and services made available in the market.
