Abstract
The sectors of construction, tourism and agriculture were hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. This Economic Contingency Plan (ECP) was formulated based on the principles of building a resilient nation, ensuring economic security and enhancing self-sufficiency.
The key objective for the agriculture ECP is to: 1. Boost agriculture and livestock production for food self-sufficiency, nutritional security and income generation; 2. Bring back potential fallow lands under crop production; 3. Provide alternate employment and income generation opportunities for displaced people; 4. Improve and enhance market access and marketing of agricultural and livestock products. The food self-sufficiency and nutrition security contingency plan strives to cope and respond to the new normal through accelerated agriculture and livestock production in tandem with marketing, value additions and year round road access.
