Abstract
This Guideline Framework to the National Plant Protection Program (NPPC) Vision Document 2040 identifies the core components of the plant protection program and highlights the key tasks under each component, and the roles and responsibilities of stakeholders. The core components of the Plant Protection Program Services are identified as actionable areas for developing a robust plant protection program. These areas are: a. Institutional Development; b. Management Coordination; c. Training and Education; d. Information Management System; e. IPM R&D and Technology Generation; and f. IPM Technology Dissemination. The general guideline framework to NPPC’s vision document highlights broadly on the functional requirements of the six core components of plant protection program. Under each framework component, the specific tasks have been identified and the relevant agency or institution responsible for the carrying out the tasks. The specific tasks include capacity and infrastructure development, international collaborations in agri-food industry, establishing platforms to render support, mentoring and monitoring of progress, pest and plant protection monitoring and surveillance activities, data collection, research in respect of integrated pest management and developing dissemination friendly resources for use by farmers and extension services.
