Land Acquisition and Compensation Rules and Regulations, 2022.

These Land Rules and Regulations, 2022 are enacted in accordance with the Land Act 2007. These Rules and Regulations shall apply to acquisition of any private registered land by the Government Institutions or Gerab Dratshang in the public interests.
Government Institutions and Gerab Dratshang proposing to acquire the private registered land shall state the public interest. Any suspicion of conflict of interest undermining the public interest shall be deemed not to be in the public interest. The private registered land shall be acquired only under unavoidable circumstances. The compensation for the acquired land shall be as per the land type recorded in Thram. The Dzongkhag/Thromde shall have the Land Acquisition and Compensation Committee instituted with the member secretary as Land Registrar of the concerned Dzongkhag or Thromde.
The Rules and Regulations further make provisions, inter alia, for: restrictions on acquisition and land substitutethe, eligibility criteria for acquisition and compensation, the roles and responsibilities of the acquiring agency, the Dzongkhag /Thromde Land Acquisition and Compensation Committee, the procedure for land acquisition and substitution, offenses and penalties.
