Abstract
This By-law regulates the slaughtering of animals and the inspection of meat. Objectives of the By-law are: (a) to protect the health of consumers; (b) to prevent the spreading of animal diseases through meat and offal; (c) to improve the quality of meat; to favor the development of the livestock industry; (e) to enhance the nutritional and dietary value of meat and meat products; (f) to increase the competitiveness of the meat industry at the international level. For said purposes, this By-law makes provision for the transport and reception of animals in the slaughterhouse, the location, construction and operation of slaughterhouses, the "ante mortem" and "post mortem" inspection, the inspection of viscera and carcasses.
