Abstract
The environmental assessment amendment act of 2020 is an act to amend the Environmental Assessment Act to provide for shorter times for assessments, to provide for reviewers including private reviewers and other related matters.
The act provides amendments to section 2 on definitions. Additionally, it introduces a new part, "Part I A – Institutional Arrangements," immediately following Part I (Preliminary). In section 6, on the requirements for authorization, subsections 3, 4, 5, and 6 are substituted. Section 8, concerning terms of reference, is deleted and replaced with a new version, and a new section 8A, "Assessment of Scoping Report," is added. Sections 9 on environmental assessment and statement and section 10 on the review of statements are also substituted. After section 41, a new section 41A on the effect of registration is added. Part X of the act is amended by deleting and replacing sections 61 to 73.
