Abstract
This Act makes provision for the licensing and regulation of industrial activities and for this purpose establishes licensing committees for each city, town or district council, a Regional Appeals Board in each region and, at national level, the Industrial Licensing Authority.
A licensing committee shall be responsible for the issuance, in accordance with the provisions of this Act, of licences to small and medium enterprises to manufacture any product and for the suspension or cancellation of such licences. The Act prohibits any manufacturing in Botswana without a licence and establishes general principles for the issue of a licence. A person aggrieved by a decision of a licensing committee may appeal to a Regional Appeal Board. The Industrial Licensing Authority shall be responsible for the licensing of large enterprises.
