Abstract
These Regulations make provision for the inspection and control of red meat industries and the handling of red meat. They also define the conditions for the marketing of fresh meat and concern the transportation of red meat.
The Regulations, among other things: provide for the licensing of abattoirs, cutting premises, cold stores, farmed game handling facilities and farmed game meat plants; specify powers of veterinary officers, Official Veterinary Surgeons and meat inspectors; and specify rules relative to the admission to, and detention in, abattoirs and farmed game meat plants of animals and carcasses. Specific and exhaustive rules relative to construction and hygienic conditions of slaughterhouses, the handling of meat and inspections can be found in the Schedule to these Regulations.
