Abstract
The National Health Policy Towards a Healthier Botswana (20122) is a Policy that will guide the health development of Botswana for next 10 years. The Policy's mission is to achieve a sustainable improvement in health status through progressive creation and maintenance of physical, mental, economic and social well-being.
Goals and objectives are identified under different priority areas. The Areas that the Policy identifies are 1) Leadership and Governance; 2) Health Services Delivery; 3) Human Resources for Health; 4) Health financing; 5) Medicines, Vaccines and Health Technologies (this include Medicines, vaccines and other medical products, Equipment; Infrastructure) 6) Health Information & Research; 7) Lifestyle/behavioural Determinants of Health (this includes Reducing Smoking; Healthy food habits and increased physical activity; Alcohol and substance abuse; Environment, Health & Safety).
Specific Roles and responsibilities for implementation of the Policy are identified in a table where several Sectors, public administration bodies and stakeholders are identified, including donors, partners, NGOs and private sector.
