Abstract
This Act makes provision for the protection of public health in Botswana and in particular provides rules relative to: the prevention or introduction of diseases, sanitation, the storage of food, the control on the supply of water and food and the prevention and destruction of mosquitoes.
The Act defines functions of the Ministry responsible for the administration of this Act and provides for the appointment of health officers. Some provisions of this Act concern diseases among animals and diseases communicable from animals to men. The Act prohibits the causing of nuisance in relation with sanitation and establishes requirements for buildings where food is stored. The Act furthermore defines duties of health officers in relation with the purity of water and prohibits the sale of tainted, adulterated or unhealthy food. Specific provision is made in relation to dairy products.

An Act to make the notification of certain diseases compulsory and to control such diseases; to make provision regarding diseases subject to the International Health Regulations; to prevent the spread of smallpox; to prevent the introduction of diseases into Botswana; to control advertisements and publications concerning veneral disease; to regulate sanitation and housing; to provide for the protection of foodstuffs and of water supplies; to regulate the use of cemeteries; and generally to make provision for public health.
