Abstract
The Parties have agreed to cooperate in the following fields: 1) protection against atmospheric pollution; 2) protection of water especially in Daugava river basin; 3) protection of flora and fauna, development of protected areas and recreational areas; 4) environmental monitoring; 5) recycling of industrial waste and domestic waste; 6) mutual assistance in the liquidation of consequences of natural disasters causing environmental pollution (art. 2). The cooperation shall be carried out in the following forms: 1) exchange of scientists and experts; 2) conferences, symposiums and consultations; 3) exchange of scientific and technical documentation; 4) joint programs and projects; 5) supply of personnel, equipment and materials for the liquidation of industrial accidents and natural disasters (art. 3).

The Agreement entered into force on 21 February 1994.
Notes
The period of validity of the present Agreement shall be of five years and after the expiration of the aforesaid term it shall remain open-ended until one of the Parties informs the other in writing of its intention to terminate it.
