Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the Republic of Poland on cooperation in the field of protection and rational use of transboundary waters.

The Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the Republic of Poland, in order to protect and rationally use transboundary waters, improve their quality, preserve and, if necessary, restore water ecosystems, have agreed on cooperation in the following fields: (a) conducting hydrological and hydrogeological observations and studies, evaluating their results, as well as exchanging data in this field; (b) conducting coordinated monitoring of waters in order to determine water quality; (c) drawing up water management balances taking into account the quality and quantity of water resources, as well as agreeing on a general assessment and classification of the quality and quantity of water; (d) protection of water from pollution and excessive consumption, identification of pollution and impacts affecting water quality; (e) protection from floods and the negative impact of ice phenomena; (f) counteracting the phenomenon of drought; (g) prevention and liquidation of emergency water pollution; (h) extraction of minerals and other natural resources from water channels; (i) use of water management systems located on border waters; (j) provision of conditions for navigation in frontier waters; (k) maintaining the natural regime of the beds of border rivers; (l) protection and use of aquatic ecosystems, biological resources dependent on water, especially for protected natural areas; (m) development and implementation of joint programs and projects for the conservation and rational use of transboundary waters; and (n) holding other joint events.
