Abstract
The agreement aims to develop mutual cooperation in the forest sector on a long-term basis, focusing on various aspects such as forest governance, sustainable use of resources, protection against fire and pests, silviculture, and forest monitoring. The parties agree to collaborate through the exchange of work experience, scientific information, and the implementation of joint programs and projects. The agreement establishes a joint working group to coordinate its implementation and draft an Action Plan. It promotes direct contacts between legal entities of both countries in the forest sector. The cooperation is to be carried out on a mutually advantageous basis, in accordance with the existing laws of both countries. The agreement is valid for five years, with automatic extension unless terminated by either party, and can be amended with mutual consent. This agreement serves as a framework for enhancing bilateral cooperation in forestry between Latvia and Belarus, emphasizing sustainable practices and knowledge exchange.
