Agreement on coordinated policy in the sphere of technical regulation, sanitary and phytosanitary arrangements.

The scope of this Agreement shall be coordination between the Parties with a view of bringing to conformity national legislation, technical rules and regulations, standards, certification and requirements for the prevention of spreading of animal and plant diseases, pests and weeds and introduction thereof from the territory of one country to the other countries. The Parties shall be committed to recognize national (state) standards, certification (compliance) documents and accreditation certificates. The Parties shall bring to conformity state (national) standards and shall ensure the following principles: (a) voluntary application of standards; (b) openness and transparency of application of standards; (c) application of international standards as a basis for elaboration of national standards; and (d) inadmissibility of validation of standards contradicting technical regulations of the Parties.
