Law No. 356-Z “On the handling of genetic resources”.

This Law aims to promote the conservation and sustainable use of biological diversity. It emphasizes key legal principles such as the preservation of biological diversity, equitable sharing of benefits, and compliance with international law. It operates within a framework that encourages voluntary cooperation and equal access to genetic resources, while also ensuring that information related to these resources is accessible. The implementation of the Law involves the establishment of monitoring checkpoints responsible for collecting and summarizing information on the transfer and use of genetic resources. The National Coordination Center plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance with the Law and notifying relevant authorities about any violations. Chapter 1 lays down general provisions. Chapter 2 regards public administration and scientific support in the field of handling genetic resources. Chapter 3 regards access to generic resources and management thereof. Chapter 4 establishes rights and responsibilities of suppliers, users, other individuals and legal entities in the field of handling genetic resources. Chapter 5 regards monitoring in the field of handling generic resources and establishes liability for the violation of legislation in the field of handling genetic resources. Chapter 6 regards joint benefit-sharing. Chapter 7 lays down conclusive provisions.
