Ministerial Decree No. 377 validating the Regulation on the establishment of water conservation zones and riversides of waterbodies, and the modalities of economic activity therein.

This Ministerial Decree shall be applicable to technological waterbodies used for industrial purposes, hydropower generation, water treatment, sewerage and irrigation. Dimensions, boundaries and width of water conservation zones and riversides shall be established in accordance with the projects elaborated according to the requirements set by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection. Boundaries of water conservation zones and riversides shall be set as follows: (a) for rivers and lakes from the average long-term low water level; (b) for water reservoirs and ponds from normal water edge; (c) for springs and brooks from water edge. Islands located in the defined area of water of waterbodies and waterways shall be included in the riverside. Special regime of economic activity shall be established in water conservation zones for the prevention of water pollution, siltation and exhaustion.
