Abstract
This Presidential Decree establishes that Department of Veterinary and Food Supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus with the rights of a legal entity is a structural subdivision of the central apparatus of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, vested with the state power and exercising control (supervision) in the field of veterinary medicine. The Department is the competent authority in the field of veterinary medicine. The Department shall perform the following functions: (a) veterinary control (supervision); (b) implementation of state policy in the field of veterinary; (c) issuance, in accordance with the procedure established by legislative acts, prescriptions on elimination of violations in the field of veterinary, which are mandatory for execution; (d) issuance of permits for important to the national customs territory of commodities subject to veterinary control and supervision; (e) monitoring in the field of veterinary; (f) state registration of slaughtering facilities; and (g) organization of the functioning of State Veterinary Service.
