Abstract
These Veterinary and Sanitary Rules establish the procedure for organizing and conducting radiation control of products of animal origin subject to state veterinary control (supervision) to determine their compliance with the requirements established by the importing country for imported products, in terms of radiation safety indicators. The Rules establish requirements for sampling procedures, laboratory testing methods and assessment of conformity of products of animal origin subject to state veterinary control (supervision) with the radiation safety requirements of importing countries. Radiation monitoring shall be intended activities related to sampling, conducting measurements and evaluation of their results, carried out for the purpose of obtaining information on the content of cesium-137 and/or strontium-90 radionuclides in animal products. The following procedures are performed for animal origin: (a) sampling from a prepared batch of products of animal origin; and (b) determination of compliance of products of animal origin with the radiation safety requirements of the importing country. Sampling of products of animal origin from formed export batches for radiation monitoring is carried out by state veterinary inspectors or authorized specialists of the state veterinary service in accordance with these Rules.
