Abstract
The production and use of veterinary drugs is an important factor in the sustainable development of animal husbandry and ensuring food and biological security of the state.
The adoption of the State Program is due to the need to: (a) further sustainable development of animal husbandry; (b) reducing the cost and expanding the volume of prevention and treatment of farm animals and birds; (c) improving the sanitary quality of livestock products; (d) prevention of diseases common to animals and humans; (e) improving the trade balance with foreign countries; and (f) ensuring biological and food security.
The State Program provides for the development, first of all, of the production of basic veterinary biological preparations, without which livestock farming is associated with significant losses and danger to human health. In the presence of export offers, as well as in cases of changes in the epizootic situation, it is possible to expand the range and volumes of production of diagnostics, vaccines and serums.
The scope of the State Program is the further development of the production of veterinary drugs to provide the national livestock sector with at least 70 percent of its needs.
The main objectives of the State Program are: (a) increasing the production and scientific-technical potential of the veterinary industry; (b) completion of the reconstruction of the unitary enterprise Vitebsk Biofactory; (c) modernization of organizations for the production of veterinary drugs in accordance with the requirements of "Good Manufacturing Practice" (GMP); (d) development and production of new veterinary products using advanced technologies; and (e) development of export potential.
Expected results: (a) growth in the production of essential veterinary drugs and technical modernization of veterinary industry organizations; (b) solution of technical problems in the creation and implementation of the planned range of veterinary drugs and instruments; and (c) creation of economic conditions for increasing the competitiveness of products both in the domestic and foreign markets.
