Abstract
The goals of the State Program for water supply and wastewater disposal Clean Water are to increase the provision of the population with drinking water of standard quality and to preserve the environment.
To achieve these goals, it is necessary to solve the following tasks: (a) increasing the provision of the population with centralized water supply with drinking water of standard quality; and (b) reducing the harmful impact on the environment through the construction, reconstruction and modernization of sewage treatment facilities.
The main directions for the development of water supply and sanitation systems for 2011-2015 are as follows: (a) provision of centralized water supply with drinking water of standard quality to residents of cities and urban-type settlements; (b) providing centralized water supply to residents of agricultural rural areas; (c) reduction of losses and unaccounted water consumption from water supply systems; and (d) development of domestic sewerage systems in populated areas.
The results of the implementation of the State Program by 2016 will be: (a) providing at least 98 percent of the population of regional and district centers, cities of regional subordination and urban-type settlements with centralized water supply with drinking water of standard quality; (b) providing at least 80 percent of the population of agricultural towns with centralized water supply; (c) a 5 percent reduction in losses and unaccounted water consumption from water supply systems; (d) reducing the discharge of insufficiently treated wastewater into waterbodies; (e) increasing the availability of centralized and local domestic wastewater disposal systems for urban and rural population.
