Abstract
This Act makes amendments in the Harbours and Merchant Shipping Act by inserting new section 13A regarding commercial vessel to be financial viable to meet expenditure for any maritime accident, marine spill, the salvage of the vessel or any similar occurrence; amending section 18 regarding fees for the registration and licensing of marinas and administrative fines for breaches of regulations relating to marinas; and inserting new section 18A regarding coordination with the Department of the Environment to mitigate the environmental impact as a result of construction, manufacture, design, licensing, registration or maintenance of marinas.

An Act to amend the Harbours and Merchant Shipping Act, Chapter 234 of the Substantive Laws of Belize, Revised Edition 2020; to provide for the regulation of marinas; to provide for the requirement to show financial capabilities of foreign vessels to sustain lawsuits and other liabilities; and to provide for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.
