Abstract
The present Code enacts the Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act and the Conservation and Reclamation Regulation. The Code lays down provisions relating to exploration operations which indicate any investigation, work, or act to determine the presence of coal or oil sands by test drilling, excavation, or other means that results in surface disturbance or that may cause an adverse effect, but excludes any exploration operation that is the subject of a permit, license, or approval under the Exploration Regulation (AR 214/98). Section 2 of Part 2 establishes that any person who conducts or reclaims an exploration operation must do so in accordance with this Code of Practice.
