Abstract
The purpose of the Act is to reserve public lands for ecological purposes, including the following areas: (a) scientific research and education on productivity of the natural environment; (b) representative examples of ecosystems; (c) examples of ecosystems modified by human beings; (d) rare and endangered native plants and animals in their natural habitat which may be preserved; (e) unique and rare examples of botanical, zoological or geological phenomena. The Lieutenant Governor in Council may establish, cancel or amend reserves (sects. 3 and 4). Ecological reserves are not available for disposition (sect. 5). The remaining sections deal with the power to make regulations, administration and advisors.
