Abstract
An Act to establish ecological reserves, intended as Crown land in the province which sustains or is associated with unique or representative parts of the natural environment. For the purposes of this Act, “environment” comprises air, land or water; as well as plant and animal life, including man. The Lieutenant Governor in Council may authorize the establishment of a special fund, to be known as the Ecological Reserves Development Fund, for the purchase of land considered to be suitable as an ecological reserve. (sect. 6). Ecological reserves cannot be disposed of under the provisions of any other Act or law in force in the province (sect. 7). The entrance and conduct of any activity on an ecological reserve is subject to authorization (sect. 8). Finally, the Lieutenant Governor in Council is entrusted with the power to make regulations for the purpose of implementing this Act.
