Experimental Lakes Area Research Activities Regulations (S.O.R./2014-95).

The present Regulations are made under the Fisheries Act. The Regulations authorize the new operator to continue scientific research at the Experimental Lakes Area ensuring adherence to sound scientific practices and minimize environmental impacts to provide for the long term protection of the lakes. For the purpose of the Regulations “aquatic research project” means a project that involves the deposit of a deleterious substance in water frequented by fish and any monitoring related to that project. In this connexion, section 3 establishes that a deleterious substance may be deposited in the Experimental Lakes Area during the course of an aquatic research project if the purpose of the deposit is solely for scientific research.
