Abstract
These Regulations 7 apply only to designated materials under Part IX of the Act that are packaging, paper products and packaging-like products. Part V specifies material categories for designated material (paper, rigid plastic; flexible plastic; glass; metal) and refers to the Packaging, Paper Products and Packaging Like Products Material Management Standard for material management requirements. Moreover, the Regulations provide criteria to identify producer (the brand holder of the designated material, if the brand holder is a resident of Canada; if there is no person who meets the description in clause (a), the importer of the designated material, if the importer is a resident of the Province if there is no person who meets the description in clauses (a) and (b), the retailer); discipline the readiness report and annual action plan and reporting requirements for producer; regulate registry and registration. Every producer must establish and operate a collection system, must ensure that every eligible source in the Province receives collection service in the form of a common collection system for designated material; requirements are set for curbside or depot collection for residential premises, collection facilities, First Nation reserve collection, among others. Other provisions concern reporting and education measures.
