Abstract
The present regulations provide for the enforcement of section 3 of the Food and Drug Act. The regulations contain at the outset a definition clause relating to various terms therein employed, such as “catering vehicle”, “commercially sterile”,”dairy plant”, “food contact surface”, “hazardous food”, “manufactured meat product”, “milk”, “milk house”, “milking barn”, “milking parlour”, “mobile preparation premise”, “pre-packaged food”, “sanitary facility”,”sanitize”,”standard method”. The underlying idea is that a person shall not operate a food premises without a licence. The text consists of 48 sections of which the most important ones are: Application (3); Exemption (4); Licence (5);Food premises (6);Equipment (7);Equipment material (8); Sanitation (9); Food contamination (11); Food containers (12);Hazardous food (13); Hazardous food processed (14); Frozen food (15); Milk (16); Ice (17); Cans, containers, etc (18); Toxic substances (24); Utensil cleaning (25); Sanitary facilities (29); Meat or fish (33); Processed meat or fish identification (34); Fish (35); Milk supply (36); Pasteurization and sterilization (37); Labelling (43); Egg storage (45). Three Schedules are enclosed.
