Abstract
The present Regulation regulates the possession, transport, and trade of live freshwater fish species in British Columbia. It defines “fish” to include species from specific taxonomic groups such as lampreys, bony fishes, crustaceans, and mollusks, excluding ornamental tropical fish and goldfish. The regulation aims to protect aquatic ecosystems and prevent unauthorized movement of live fish. Key provisions prohibit possession, transportation, or trafficking of live fish without a valid permit or license. Enforcement measures include penalties for violations and compliance requirements for individuals and entities involved in fish handling. The regulation authorizes regional managers to issue permits under specified conditions and sets associated fees, including a surcharge for the habitat conservation trust fund.
