Abstract
The present Regulation enforces the Environmental Protection Act (R.S.O. 1990, c. E.19). Considering that nitrogen oxide (NOX) and sulphur dioxide (SO2) are two of the most significant smog-causing pollutants, the Regulations set NOX and SO2 emissions limits for eight large industrial sectors: electricity, petroleum, cement, glass, pulp and paper, iron and steel, base metal smelting, carbon black. The Regulations - consisting of 50 sections - deals, inter alia, with the following aspects: submission of production data, emission allowances, contents of the Registry, monitoring and reporting, grounds for refusing approval, records. Ten Tables are enclosed.
