Abstract
For the purpose of the present Act "Intergovernmental Agreement" means the Northwest Territories Intergovernmental Agreement on Lands and Resources Management between the Government of the Northwest Territories and the Aboriginal Parties that was made on February 27, 2014; and "Aboriginal Party" means the Gwich’in Tribal Council, Inuvialuit Regional Corporation, Northwest Territory Métis Nation, Sahtu Secretariat Inc., Tåîchô Government and any other Aboriginal Government that becomes a party to the Intergovernmental Agreement. The Act establishes that an action or thing authorized by this Act must be carried out in accordance with the afore-mentioned Intergovernmental Agreement; and in the event of an inconsistency or conflict between this Act and the Intergovernmental Agreement, the Agreement prevails to the extent of the inconsistency or conflict.
