Abstract
Subject to subsections (2) and (3), these Regulations apply in respect of fishing in the Province of Ontario and to the transporting of live fish taken from the waters of the Province of Ontario, but they do not apply to specified artificial waters and in respect of the waters of national parks situated in the Province of Ontario where the National Parks Fishing Regulations apply.
Regulation 3 prescribes the requirement to obtain a licence, whereas other regulations: (a) impose close seasons (5); (b) prohibit certain fishing methods and devices (6 to 9); prohibit the possession of live ruffe (9.1.); place restrictions on the use and having in possession of live bait (10 to 12.1.); impose immediate release of illegally caught fish (13); and provide for the variation of close times, fishing quotas and limits (14). Part II (regs. 14 to 29) regulates sport fishing, whereas regulations 30 to 35 (Part III) regulate commercial fishing, including use of gear, marking of gear, conditions of licence, and the disposal of fish. Remaining provisions concern collection for scientific purposes, observers to monitor fishing activities, and prescribe offences (40 regulations completed by 3 Schedules)
