Abstract
This Regulation concerns sale, handling, use and application of pesticides in Alberta. Section 2 specifies that, in case of a conflict between the requirements of this Regulation and any applicable provision of the Fertilizers Act (Canada) and the Pest Control Products Act (Canada) and the regulations under those Acts, the most stringent requirement prevails. As a general rule, pesticides cannot be used in a manner or at a time or place that causes or is likely to cause an adverse effect. The Regulation sets water precautions and controls the crossing through water of equipment that has been used to hold, mix or apply a pesticide (sect. 7). Pesticide applicators need to hold a certificate and are requested to comply with the Environmental Code of Practice for Pesticides (sect. 10). The Regulation includes provisions on fumigants (sect. 16), on dispensers (sect. 18), on the sale of pesticides, on storage and transportation (sect. 26) and on the use and disposal of pesticide containers (sects. 28-30).
