Abstract
The present Regulations enforce the Fisheries Act (R.S.C. 1985, c. F-14). In particular, the Regulations lay down provisions relating to pollution caused by deleterious substances in liquid effluents from petroleum refineries. Section 4 defines the term “deleterious substance” and section 5 fixes the authorized threshold values of such substances. The text – consisting of 9 sections – deals with the following aspects: application, substances prescribed as deleterious substances, authorized deposit of a deleterious substance, reference crude rates, calculation of authorized deposits, calculation of actual deposits, reporting. Four Schedules are enclosed.
