Abstract
This Act consisting of 76 articles divided in VI Parts aims at protecting the public health in all its fields. It establishes that the Minister of Health and wellness is charged with the administration of this Act by the means listed in article 3.
Part II, dedicated to Public Health Protection regards the sale of food and prohibits to prepare, sell or offer for sale food, including ready to-eat food, in a food premises unless the food is obtained from a source that is (a) subject to inspection in accordance with the regulations; or (b) exempted by the regulations from inspection requirements. It deals with (i) Food Premises; (ii) Milk and Milk Products; (iii) Slaughterhouses; (iv) Tanning Facilities; (v) Health Hazards; and (vi) Notifiable Diseases or Conditions and Communicable Diseases.
Part III concerns the presence of and the necessary measures in case of health emergency. It establishes that the Lieutenant Governor in Council may make an order declaring a state of public health emergency and may take the special measures listed in art. 49 (2). Finally, Part IV regards Information gathering and sharing, (including personal information, personal health information, proprietary information and confidential information) and deals with (i) requirement to provide information; (ii) authorization to collect information; and (iii) disclosure of information.
