Abstract
The present Act makes provisions for the management and protection of reindeers in the Northwest Territories and provides the Government of the Northwest Territories with the authority to make Regulations. It also provides the Government with the authority to enter into agreements for herding of reindeer. Section 3 of the above-mentioned Act establishes that if a peace officer or an officer within the meaning of the Wildlife Act believes on reasonable grounds that a reindeer has been killed, that a reindeer or part of a reindeer has been taken, transferred, shipped or had in possession in contravention of the regulations or that a vessel, vehicle, airplane, firearm, trap or other article or thing has been used in contravention of the regulations, he or she may, without a warrant, effect seizure of that reindeer, reindeer part or article or thing.
