Abstract
The present Regulations enact the Environment Act. For the purpose of the present Regulations “on-site sewage disposal system” means a system for disposing of sewage that is not directly connected to a central sewage collection and treatment system or a municipal system. The Regulations apply to any lot shown on a plan or instrument of subdivision that must be submitted to a development officer for approval by a municipality and is proposed to be serviced by a system. The text – consisting of 40 sections – deals with the following aspects: activities designated as requiring approval, systems on lots being subdivided, minimum lot size requirements, system application and approval, review of application for approval, reason for refusal of approval, installing a system, certificate of installation, auditing and inspecting systems, holding tanks, cluster systems, certificates of qualification and list of installers.
