Abstract
The present Regulations enact the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999. The purpose of the above-mentioned Regulations is to ensure that the level of sulphur in diesel fuel used in on-road vehicles in Canada will not impede the effective operation of advanced emission control technologies planned to be introduced on 2007 and later model year vehicles (i.e., in mid-2006) to comply with stringent new exhaust emission standards. This is accomplished by reducing the maximum allowable limit for sulphur in on-road diesel fuel to 15 milligrams per kilogram of the fuel, which is equivalent to 15 parts per million (p.p.m.), commencing 1 June 2006. The text consists of 8 sections as follows: Application (1); Maximum concentration of sulphur (2); Analysis (3); Reports (3); Records (4); Repeal (4); Coming into force (5). Two Schedules are enclosed.
