Abstract
These Regulations provide the discipline for Water Supply System and Wastewater Treatment System in Prince Edward Island. Under the Regulations “facility” means a water treatment facility, water distribution facility, wastewater treatment facility or wastewater collection facility. Part 2 concerns issuing of permit for construction or modification of facilities. Part 3 regulates operation of facilities for which as well is required a licence. The Part continues establishing Operator’s certification requirements for a facility for which a facility classification certificate has been issued; Schedule B lists Types of operator certification: (a) water distribution facility operator; (b) water treatment facility operator; (c) wastewater treatment facility operator; (d) wastewater collection facility operator.
Part 5 is dedicated to water supply systems, it sets water quality requirements, conditions for monitoring and sampling, and for disclosing information. Under this Part “water treatment” includes the use of a water treatment device or devices or processes for the purpose of reducing the number of microbiological pathogens in water or reducing or altering the concentration of chemical constituents in water before the water enters a water distribution facility. Part 6 concerns wastewater treatment systems; it establishes effluent quality standards, parameters for monitoring effluent flow and quality, reporting and disclosure.
