Abstract
This short Act (5 sections) establishes that the duties, responsibilities and restraints to which a water utility is subject are the same as are imposed on a public utility under the Utilities Commission Act, and the powers and jurisdiction of the comptroller are the same as those vested in the British Columbia Utilities Commission under the Utilities Commission Act, in respect of a public utility (sect. 4). Water utilities are defined as a person who owns or operates "equipment or facilities for the diverting, developing, pumping, impounding, distributing or furnishing of water to or for 5 or more persons, or corporation, for compensation and the "lessee, trustee, receiver or liquidator of a person" referred to above. It does not include municipality water services, and other territorial water authorities (sect. 1).
