Abstract
Part 1 lays down animal welfare standards for farmed animals, namely pigs, goats, cattle, layer hens and chicks. These standards are concerned with the registration of owners, feeding, access to sufficient fresh water, shelter, outdoor areas, tethering and other forms of restraint, roaming, handling, diseases, transportation, mustering, herding, breeding and destruction. These standards shall apply to farmed animals for reward or for the purpose of trade in the animal or in material or products derived or taken from the animal. This Part also sets out minimum qualifications for farmers and para-vets and provisions on the appointment and functions of livestock officers. Part 2 determines penalties for animal cruelty, non-compliance with subparts 1 to 4 of Part 1, and minor offences. Part 3 sets out the procedures of establishment or dissolution of committee. Schedules of these Regulations lay down forms of warrants and notices.
