Abstract
This Act provides for the control of the placing on the market, transport and other handling of goods specified in the Schedule to this Act.
The Secretary of Trade, Labour and Transport is charged with the general administration of this Act. The Secretary may grant licences for the transportation of dangerous goods. Every licence shall be subject to any conditions that may be prescribed. An applicant for a licence or a holder of a licence may appeal with the High Court against a decision of the Secretary in respect of a licence. The Act provides for the appointment of inspectors for purposes of this Act and defines their powers. The Act further provides rules for the storage and use of dangerous goods, provides for measures in case of accidents and defines regulation-making powers of the Queen’s Representative.
