Abstract
This Act amends the Food Act 1992-93 so as to transfer functions relative to export of seafood from the Food Safety Advisory Council to the Seafood Export Advisory Council, appointed under this Act. It also adds a new Part (7) on the export of seafood. Notwithstanding any other provision of this Act, it shall be within the purpose and scope of this Act, for the Minister of Health to implement a special regime relating to the administration, management, monitoring and auditing of the export of seafood by means of measures specified by this Act. The Queens Representative may from time to time by Order in Executive Council make Regulations specifically applying to seafood. Specific measures may regard individual risk management programmes, regulated control schemes, fish export product standards, registration of exporters, additional standards for export fish products. The Act also provides for the licensing of fish premises.
